In the NZ DJ summer camp, participants learn to use turntables and
controllers as musical instruments. Teens explore the culture, history,
innovations, and aesthetics of hip-hop, EDM, turntablism, radio, and mash-up DJ’s.
Teens who attend the week-long DJ camp will have hands on experience deep
diving into the culture and life of a DJ. Participants will learn the basics of DJing
and turntablism starting with beat matching and scratching techniques using
vinyl, controllers, and DVS systems such as Serato and Traktor. Additionally,
teens will be have the ability to learn VJ’ing and how to compose and perform
video DJ sets with a full day of A/V & VJ workshops and hands-on training
demonstrated in a live performance on the last day.
